Course Description
Half Distance
Swim :: 1.2 Miles
Participants will be treated to a unique 1.2 mile swim in the Monongahela River, known locally as the Mon River. All participants will start at the new Warf District Marina and will start IN the water. Swim exit is next to the transition area.
Bike :: 56 Miles
This challenging 56 mile bike will now feature a two lap out and back course (same as 2010) on the rolling country roads north of the city and features one significant climb on the way out and on the way back. The first and last three miles of the course are on the bike path allowing us to avoid the rough roads used in the past. There will be two Aid stations that will be passed twice. Water, HEED fluid replacement, ice and Hammer Gel will be available. Water and HEED fluid replacement will be in water bottles. 39 x 23 gearing is recommend for this course.
Run :: 13.1 Miles
A single out and back run course featuring a flat and fast course along the Mon. Water, HEED fluid replacement, Hammer Gel, Ice, and various foods will be available approximately every mile.
Olympic Distance
Swim :: 0.93 Miles / 1500 Meters
Participants will be treated to a unique 1500 meter swim in the Monongahela River, known locally as the Mon River. All participants will start at the new Warf District Marina and will start IN the water. Swim exit is next to the transition area.
Bike :: 24.85 Miles / 40 Kilometers
This very fast 40 km bike will feature an out and back course on the rolling country roads north of the city and features one significant climb on the way out and on the way back. The first and last three miles of the course are on the bike path allowing us to avoid the rough roads used in the past. 39 x 23 gearing is recommend for this course.
Run :: 6.2 Miles / 10 Kilometers
A beautiful out and back run course along the Mon River on a paved bike path. Water, HEED fluid replacement, Hammer Gel, Ice, and various foods will be available approximately every mile.
Sprint Distance
Swim :: 0.41 Miles / 750 Meters
Participants will be treated to a unique 750 meter swim in the Monongahela River, known locally as the Mon River. All participants will start at the new Warf District Marina and will start IN the water. Swim exit is next to the transition area.
Bike :: 12.4 Miles / 20 Kilometers
This is a fast and flat out and back 20 km bike with the first and last three miles of the course are on the bike path giving allowing us to avoid the rough roads used in the past.
Run :: 3.1 Miles / 5 Kilometers
A beautiful out and back run course along the Mon River on the paved bike path. Water, HEED fluid replacement, Hammer Gel, Ice, and various foods will be available approximately every mile.
